When I was diagnosed with breast cancer (invasive lobular carcinoma, pleomorphic variant) in August 2013, I told my good friend, “I guess I’d better get my boxing gloves on!”
She corrected me, “No, she said. You will have to get your bow and arrows.”
I knew exactly what she meant.
The legend of the Amazon woman says these powerful women would cut off their breast, to shoot their bows with more accuracy and force and thus preparing them to become formidable warriors.
And so, I became Vivian the Amazon.
